APPLYING FOR A NON-IMMIGRANT VISA

PART ONE: What do I need to apply for a U.S. Visa?

All applicants must have the following:

  • Application Form DS-156: This form must be completed by all applicants for all visa types. Failure to answer all questions on this form could result in significant delays. Parents or legal guardians of children under 14 years old should sign this form on their behalf. Filling out the form online will assist on the day of the interview.

  • A valid passport or travel document. If you have held previous passports please bring them on the day of the interview.
  • The non-refundable visa application fee (click here for current fee).  Major Credit Cards are accepted. Payments can be made to consular section in Port Moresby.
  • Additional documents as required (see below)

    PART TWO: How do I apply?

    All Applicants must appear in  person  for an interview at the Consular Section of U.S. Embassy in Port Moresby .  Children under 14 years of age and adults over 80 years of age may not need to appear in person.


    The Consular Section provides visa services only on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Issued visas will generally be ready for pickup in the afternoon of the same day. If the number of applicants or any other circumstance renders this impossible, then passports with visas will be returned the following morning, or as soon as possible after that time.

    When you come for an interview, bring all of the above documentation with you at the U.S. Embassy in Port Moresby:
